WELCOME TO COMMUNITY FOOTBALL ACADEMY

 

Community Football Academy or CFA as its known as was formed back in 2004 as a community club coaching children who did not play any form of mainstream competitive football.

The academy also concentrated on hosting football tournaments for those children who did not play any competitive football. At the same time a Muslim scholar’s football team was formed and there played in high profile football matches with various organizations like the Police, City Council officials etc. The first ever Interfaith football event was held in Jan 2006 where over 300 children participated and the first ever football match between Muslim scholars V Christian clergies was played and this set of a trend up and down the country where different cities and towns followed suit.

Football tournaments & Leagues were set up from u10 to u17 where tournaments were played in the school holidays mainly Easter, Summer Holiday and just before the Christmas break and the leagues were formatted from 4 weeks to 7 months over the years.

Besides football high profile cricket matches have also been hosted and organized in 2006 the first ever cricket match between Muslim Faith Leaders playing the. Christian clergies to mark respect for 9/11 fifth anniversary at grace road, home of Leicestershire County Cricket club which attracted over 2000 people and lots of media interest. The follow on from the cricket was to have all the faith leaders all in one team representing Leicester from all the various faiths, there played in a few matches with Bradford and Luton at cricket.

 The children’s tournament were hosted and played at different venues around Leicester over the years to experience different culture and respect values of the local community.

In Jun 2009 the first European Interfaith football tournament was held in Leicester with Sweden the visitors and a Leicestershire constabulary, Mixed Faith leader’s team and a team of football coaches taking part with the event being a huge success in 2010 it was held in Sweden and 2011 in Germany with more countries participating.

The German Interfaith tournament being a big success with the British Ambassador and Embassy staff supporting the Leicester team. 

 

Community Football Academy is a voluntary organization run by volunteers and is also a non-profitable organization.
